PID Systems Engineering’s Building Management Systems (BMS) is a solution that offers a single point of control and monitoring for buildings. This access to the assets and sensors of the building is provided through our Intelligent system for practically everything in the building – safety/security sensors, energy meters, lighting systems, elevators, and more.
What is a Building Management System?
A Building Management System (BMS) or a Building Automation System (BAS) is a computer-based control system installed in buildings to control and monitor the building’s electrical and mechanical equipment.
Systems monitored or controlled by a BMS
- Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC)
- Closed-circuit television (CCTV)
- Lighting systems
- Power systems
- Fire systems
- Security systems
- Access control
- Alarm Monitors
- Lifts and elevators
- PA systems
Besides controlling the building’s internal environment, BMS systems are sometimes linked to access control and other security systems such as motion detectors and closed-circuit television (CCTV).
Elevators and Fire alarm systems are also occasionally linked to a BMS, for monitoring. In case of fire, the fire alarm panel shuts off dampers in the ventilation system to stop smoke from spreading. It also sends all the elevators to the ground floor and parks them preventing people from using them.
